I have always wanted to visit Machu Picchu and was able to fulfill this dream a few years ago, although I found that the whole site is almost too sensational for art.  Instead of painting the ruins, which themselves are fully realized art, I chose to paint the nearby Urubamba Valley.  A miracle of beauty and abundance, the Urubamba Valley yields four crops a year, which is as close to the Garden of Eden as I will ever come.
